<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hot water storage type water heater capable of easily performing a work of making a hot water storage tank full of water after installation without cost. <P>SOLUTION: Whether or not a predetermined object detection signal is received is confirmed (step S1). In the case the signal has been received, an electric cut-off valve 7 is opened to discharge hot water in the hot water storage tank 2 from an automatic faucet 10 (step S3). Then, whether or not this state has lasted for five minutes is confirmed (step S4), and in the case five minutes have passed, the electric cut-off valve 7 is closed to stop water discharge from the automatic faucet 10 (step S5).
