PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a normal temperature molten salt electrolyte having excellent oxidation resistance and electric characteristics and attaining low viscosity and a low melting point, and to provide a normal temperature molten salt electrolyte secondary battery having a high output, a large capacity, and excellent safety by using it. SOLUTION: The normal temperature molten salt electrolyte comprises normal temperature molten salt and alkali metal salt. Structures of cations and anions are asymmetric structures, and the cations constituting the normal temperature molten salt are those of four-class ammonium salt having a structure expressed in the following formula. In the formula, R1, R2, R3 or R4 may be each a substitutional group, and is a member selected from groups comprising an aliphatic group, an aromatic group and a heterocyclic group.
