PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To overcome the problem that an acceleration time to a target speed is made longer when overshoot to the target speed during motor control is large. SOLUTION: A motor controller (or a lens device) has a speed detection means 13 for detecting the speed of a motor 19 or a mobile unit (a focusing lens 19) driven by the motor and a control means 17 for controlling driving of the motor, and the control means performs control of making an electric brake (short brake or reverse brake) act upon the motor in the case of excess over the target speed of a speed detected by the speed detection means when controlling acceleration toward the target speed.
