PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out high quality recording by suppressing effects of jetting ink drops of each volume onto jetting ink drops of the other volumes in the case where recording is carried out by jetting ink drops of different volumes and combining dots of a plurality of different sizes in ink jet recording. SOLUTION: For the whole of a recording head, twice scanning (S1 and S2) using only a small aperture group and one scanning (B1) using only a large aperture group are repeated periodically (T1, T2 and T3). Only one kind of jetting openings for jetting large ink drops or jetting small ink drops is used for the whole of the recording head in each scanning, and therefore, particularly effects of jetting large ink drops onto jetting small ink drops can be suppressed.
