PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk storage device capable of performing servo locking at high speed, and detecting the servo error of a slave unit. SOLUTION: An MPU 4 which is a master unit calculates a positional relation between a head part and a storage disk by using disk management data indicating the positional relation of servo information between storage disks, and the servo locking of the MPU 4 is completed based on the result of the calculation. Thus, servo locking is performed at high speed without waiting for the end of the servo locking of a disk control unit 8 which is a slave unit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
