<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier separator capable of suppressing the fall of the velocity of flow of a downward current flowing along a screen surface. <P>SOLUTION: A treating vessel 1 for holding carriers 2 on which microorganisms are immobilized in a fluidized state by the air diffused from a diffuser is provided with an effluent waterway 7 communicating with the region within the vessel through a screen 9 and is provided with a downward flow passage 10 covering the front of the screen 9. The sectional area of the flow passage of the section 10 is gradually decreased from an inlet 11 in the upper part toward a reflux port 12 in the lower part by vertically slanting guide wall surfaces 13 of the section 10 facing the screen 9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
