PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a new gene by using an object sequence of bases. SOLUTION: A new gene producing method comprises a first step of using a database storing information regarding the sequence of bases for searching homology with the object sequence of bases to identify a sequence of bases homological with the object sequence of bases and a second step for assembling the sequence of bases identified as a result of the first step with the object sequence of bases to construct an elongating sequence of bases. The first step and the second step are repeated using the elongating sequence of bases as the object sequence of bases until the homological sequence of bases is not identified in the first step, to define the finally constructed elongating sequence of bases as a new gene.
