PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image collation device which makes processing such as confirmation whether or not an object is the registered one, collation about what object, retrieval of similar objects possible by using an image of the object photographed by a camera, etc. in various positions and attitudes and illuminating conditions and without requiring measurement of the three-dimensional shape in the case of collation. SOLUTION: A registration means 100 measures and stores the three-dimensional shape and surface reflectance of the object to be registered. In a collation means 200, a photographic means 210 such as the camera photographs an inputted image. A position attitude estimation means 220 estimates the position and attitude of the object in the inputted image by using the registered three-dimensional shape and the registered reflectance. An illumination correction means 230 generates an image with the same position, the same attitude and under the same illuminating conditions as those of the inputted image as a comparison image by using the registered three-dimensional shape and the registered reflectance. An image comparison means 240 calculates a degree of similarity between the comparison image and the inputted image.
