PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high speed data transmission, low cost, and low power consumption in the data recording/reproducing device performing the recording/reproducing of data to HDD (a hard disk drive). SOLUTION: An interface part is installed so as to have a function performing control for reading/writing data to the HDD 1 through a CPU 6 in a PIO mode, and a function generating a control signal for performing the control of reading/writing data without passing through the CPU 6 in the PIO mode. Since the CPU can be made in a sleep mode during a period performing the control of reading/writing data to the HDD without passing through the CPU in the PIO mode, power consumption can be reduced. Since the control of the reading/writing data is performed without passing through the CPU, high speed read/write can be realized. In addition, since the read/write is controlled in the PIO mode, complicated hardware constitution like a DMA system is made unnecessary, and low cost can be realized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
