PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production process of a fluorine-containing alkyl halide by which the halide is efficiently produced from a fluorine-containing alkene as the staring substance and an efficient production process of a fluorine-containing ester using the process. SOLUTION: The production process of a fluorine-containing alkyl halide as represented by formula (II): R<SB>f</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>X (wherein, X is a halogen element; and R<SB>f</SB>is a 1-20C perfluoroalkyl group or a 1-20C polyfluoroalkyl group) comprises reacting a fluorine-containing alkene as represented by formula (I): R<SB>f</SB>-CH<SB>2</SB>CH<SB>2</SB>(wherein, R<SB>f</SB>is the same as described above) with hydrogen halide-generating reagents in the presence or absence of a catalyst.
