PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact type crusher reducing the generation ratio of coarse particles and capable of extending the durable life of a hammer head. SOLUTION: The impact type crusher has a number-of-rotation variable rotor 5 provided in a casing 1 horizontally, a large number of hammers 6 of which the base end parts are attached with hinges to the outer periphery of the rotor, and rectangular plate shaped hammer heads 10 fitted to the tip parts of the respective hammer arms and extended in the radial direction of the rotor. The hammer head is formed of steel hammer head main bodies 14 made of steel having a roughly rectangular shape and triangular-shaped chips 15 made of a cemented carbide attached to the cut-off place of the hammer head main body. Triangular cut-off places 13 covering a main abrasion region due to high speed rotation and covering a main abrasion region due to low speed rotation are provided to the leading end corner part on the front side in the rotary direction of the rotor are provided to the hammer head main body and the chips 15 has a size almost equal to that of the cut-off place of the hammer head main body.
