PURPOSE: A method for excluding capture of carbon dioxide in purifying coke gas is provided to exclude carbon dioxide from a gas entered into the conventional Claus plant and to minimize water content of the gas so that the process can be facilitated and the cost of equipment can be saved. CONSTITUTION: A method for excluding capture of carbon dioxide and maximization of absorptivity of the other components in purifying coke gas is characterized by the following: a) contacting dihydrogen sulfide with potassium carbonate solution at low temperature for a short time in dihydrogen sulfide absorption tank to absorb only dihydrogen sulfide and to generate carbon dioxide; b) controlling the temperature and contacting time with absorption liquids in the succeeding ammonia absorption tank to absorb about 40% more than the generated carbon dioxide; c) absorbing carbon dioxide while the absorption liquid from dihydrogen sulfide absorption tank contacts with water steam issued from the distillation of the absorption liquid of b) to regenerate potassium carbonate solution; and d) decreasing the water content contained in the water steam of c) to obtain a steam comprising minimum amount of carbon dioxide and water content.
