<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiplexing apparatus and a multiplexing method wherein the burden of processing to a controller is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: A multiplexing system 10 is provided with a plurality of encoders 12-15 which generate elementary streams, a CPU 16, a multiplexer 17 which performs multiplexing process, an instruction memory 18 wherein instruction data are stored, and a data memory 19 wherein a plurality of elementary data turning to objects to be multiplexed are stored. The encoders 12-15 divide the elementary data into units and store the data in the data memory 19. The CPU 16 generates instruction data wherein storage location on the data memory 19 is shown for each of the units, and stores the instruction data in the instruction memory 18. The multiplexer 17 reads the instruction data one by one from the instruction memory 18, reads units described in the instruction data sequentially from the data memory 19, and generates multiplexed stream. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
