<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for reducing and removing nitrogen oxides (NOx)using co-existing carbon monoxide, unburnt hydrocarbons or the like as a reducing agent in a gas system hardly containing gaseous oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: The denitrification catalyst is composed of a perovskite type or perovskite like compound oxide crystal expressed by a general formula, SrFe<SB>x</SB>Co<SB>y</SB>O<SB>z</SB>(in the formula, x+y is 0.8-2.0; x/y is 0.8-2.5) and is used for a reaction for reducing and removing the nitrogen oxides with the reducing agent in the reaction system needless for the co-existence of gaseous oxygen. The specific surface area of the crystal is preferably 5-60 m<SP>2</SP>/g. The denitrification catalyst used for the reaction for reducing and removing the nitrogen oxides with a reducing agent in the reaction system needless for the co-existence of gaseous oxygen can be obtained by supporting further at least one kind of an adding metal selected from the group composed of Ru, Pd and Pt on the catalyst. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
