<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving assist device for a vehicle for realizing effective driving assist at an intersection. <P>SOLUTION: The driving assist device for a vehicle is provided with: an intersection approach detection means for detecting the approach of its own vehicle to an intersection based on predetermined map data including at least the location data of the intersection and the calculation result of the location and azimuth of its own vehicle; and a stop line detection means for detecting a stop line at a road where its own vehicle is passing by imaging the stop line. The driving assist of the vehicle at the intersection can be carried out based on the detection results of both the intersection approach detection means and the stop line detection means. The carrying out of the driving assist includes the output of warning, the output of a voice message by a navigation device, the carrying out of brake control, the carrying out of automatic control for a portable telephone, and the forced adjustment of the sound volume of an audio device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
