PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the clamp/unclamp mechanisms of a telescopic mechanism and tilting mechanism to be operated by means of a single lever in a steering column device, and enhance reliability and operability by eliminating a part protruding from the steering column device. SOLUTION: When an operating lever 7 is forwardly pulled and rocked about a lever center shaft 72, clamping of a tilt head 4 is released. On the other hand, rocking of the operating lever 7 rocks a pressure plate 73, presses down a pressure rod 74, and rotates a column clamp shaft 6 through a rocking arm 61. The column shaft 6 is rotated to release clamping, so that a column head 31 is enabled to move. recessed and projecting parts 601, 602 for preventing slipping to a clamp 21 at the time of clamping are formed on the column clamp shaft 6.
