METHOD TO MONITOR REMOTELY ACCESSIBLE RESOURCES AND TO PROVIDE PERSISTENT AND CONSISTENT RESOURCE STATES

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for management of resources on a remote node in a distributed data processing system. SOLUTION: A proxy resource managers are allocated on a data processing node with full resource management support. Proxy resource agents are allocated on remote nodes without the resource management support. Consistency of extensive status and attribute of the resource are secured by using a system-wide resource generation number whose initiation and maintenance is coordinated via communication between the proxy resource manager and the proxy resource agent.
