PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable optical fiber cable for subscriber wiring provided with a moisture-proof layer around a coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: In an optical drop cable for which the coated optical fiber 1 and steel wires 2 and 3 as tension members are housed in parallel into a common sheath 4 of a deformed cross section, the periphery of the coated optical fiber 1 is covered with a tape 8 made of a metal film without clearance and a sheath is applied to the outer periphery. Moisture permeation from the outside of the cable is interrupted by the tape 8 made of the metal film. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
