PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder capable of recording on a non-carriable recording medium conveniently with a high precision. SOLUTION: An auxiliary tray 130 disposed reciprocally between a waiting position in the recorder body and an entering/exiting position of a medium on the outside of the recorder body while mounting a non-carriable second recording medium and being carried by a feed roller 146 in order to assist recording on the second recording medium by means of a recording head 153, and an auxiliary tray driving means 190 for moving the auxiliary tray between the waiting position and the feed roller and interlocking the operation required for carriage of the auxiliary tray with that movement are incorporated in the recorder body. Since the auxiliary tray for recording on the non-carriable second recording medium is positioned precisely at all times, recording precision of the second recording medium can be enhanced and since the auxiliary tray is not required to be stored separately from the recorder, the possibility of missing the auxiliary tray is eliminated.
