The present invention relates to a method for analysing the phenotypic characteristics shown by certain virus strains, particularly human immunodeficiency viruses, involving the construction of a recombinant virus obtained by homologous recombination. The present invention also relates a kit comprising the primers, vectors, cell hosts, products and reagents required to carry out PCR amplification, and the products and reagents used to detect a marker, for the implementation of the method according to the invention.
