USE OF DAPSONE AS NEUROPROTECTIVE IN CEREBRAL INFARCTION.

The present invention discloses the employment of dapsone as the first effective treatment against the disabling consequences associated to cerebral infarction in patients who have suffered it. Dapsone has been evaluated as a neuroprotective agent, in the model of cerebral infarction caused for the obstruction of middle cerebral artery in rats and in patients who had suffered an acute cerebral infarction by thrombo-embolism. In both studies dapsone showed a reduction of about 70 and 90 % of adverse consequences presented after an infarction.
