<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which enables a display with high contrast and a wide viewing angle by using a liquid crystal display panel in which a retardation value is set to a small value. <P>SOLUTION: A pair of retardation sheets formed by uniaxially stretching a polymer film are laminated and disposed between a liquid crystal display panel and a polarizer on the visual side and a retardation value Δn<SB>LC</SB>×d<SB>LC</SB>of the liquid crystal display panel is set 500∼800nm and a retardation value Δn<SB>F</SB>×d<SB>F</SB>of a pair of the retardation sheets is set 220∼300nm. The first retardation sheet is set in such a manner that an intersecting angle between a stretching axis and the orientation axis of an orientated film of the first retardation sheet side becomes 0° and the second retardation sheet is set in such a manner that an intersecting angle between the stretching axis and the stretching axis of the first retardation sheet becomes 90°. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
