PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus whose warm-up time is shortened without impairing convenience. SOLUTION: A controlling part 40 controls energizing to a heater 21a based on a target temperature table 41, a detected signal from a temperature sensor 24 to detect the temperature of a thermal fixing unit 20 and a detected signal from a temperature sensor 34 to detect the temperature of a pressure fixing unit 30. Thus, the temperature of the thermal fixing unit 20 is controlled at target temperature by controlling the energizing to the heater 21a in accordance with the temperature of the pressure fixing unit 30. Concretely, in the case that the image forming apparatus 10 is continuously worked such as copying for a large number of sheets, namely, the temperature of the pressure fixing unit 30 rises, the target temperature of the thermal fixing unit 20 is made to drop down. Thus, the warm-up time from a standby mode is shortened. Consequently, the convenience is not impaired. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
