PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide titanyl phthalocyanine crystal which gives a dispersion having high stability of the crystals and small particle sizes in preparing the dispersion and a method of producing the crystal, a stable electrophotographic photosensor which generates little abnormal images by repeated uses and does not cause reduction of electrostatic charge and rise of residual potential, and a stable electrophotographic method and an electrophotographic apparatus by which a high-speed printing is possible and which generate little abnormal images. SOLUTION: The titanyl phthalocyanine crystal has a maximum diffraction peak at least at 27.2°as the diffraction peak (±0.2°) of Bragg angle 2θto characteristic X-ray (wavelength 1.542Å) of CuKa, main peaks at 9.4°, 9.6°and 24.0°and 7.3°as the diffraction peak in the smallest angle region and no peaks between 7.3°and 9.4°, and≤0.2μm average size of primary particles.
