The detonation device (10) has an energy store (12) held in a safe condition by a safety fuse element (14) and coupled to an electrical generator (20) for providing the electrical detonation energy. The energy store has a pair of magnetic elements (16,18), displaced relative to one another along a linear guide by movement of the safety fuse element into the primed position, for generating potential energy corresponding to the detonation energy.
