PURPOSE: To provide a method of manufacturing a highly crystalline, fine and spherical metal powder which has high purity, high density, high dispersibility and very uniform particle size, at a low cost and a simple process. CONSTITUTION: A thermally decomposable metal compound powder is spurted into a reaction vessel through a nozzle with a carrier gas under condition of V/S being larger than 600, provided that a flow rate per unit time of carrier gas is defined as V(l/min), and a cross section of an opening of a nozzle as S(cm¬2), in a state of being dispersed into a gas phase at a concentration of 10 g/l or less, the metal compound powders are heated at a temperature higher than the decomposition temperature thereof and also (Tm-200)°C provided that the melting point of the metal is defined as Tm°C, to produce the metal powder.
