PURPOSE: To provide an exhaust gas valve guide for an engine that would not be corroded by SOx in exhaust gas of an engine performing EGR or an engine using fuel containing much sulfur content. CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical body(2) of an exhaust gas valve guide(1) is press fit into a receiving hole(16) of a cylinder head(15). A valve system(21) of an exhaust gas valve(20) is slidably inserted into an axis hole(3) of the cylindrical body(2). An inside surface(4) of the axis hole(3) of the cylindrical body(2) of the guide(1) is subjected to surface treatment with a material having corrosion resistance and wear resistance. The cylindrical body(2) is general cast iron for example and the surface treatment of the material including corrosion resistance and wear resistance is Cr plating, Mo thermal spraying and Ni plating or the like for example.
