<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording condition setting method for setting a recording condition optimum to recording at high speed. <P>SOLUTION: Test writing is performed at a prescribed linear velocity in a test writing zone (steps 401 to 405, steps 409 to 413), the average value of luminescence power in the prescribed linear velocity is calculated on the basis of the processed result (steps 417, 419). Then, the average value of luminescence power in an arbitrary linear velocity is calculated on the basis of the calculated average value of the luminescence power (a step 421). The optimum recording power in the arbitrary linear velocity is calculated on the basis of the calculated result (a step 423) and a recording condition at the arbitrary linear velocity is set on the basis of the recording power (a step 425). Since information concerning recording strategy is included in the average value of luminescence power, even when a linear velocity in recording and a linear velocity in the test writing are different, the optimum recording power can be obtained with sufficient accuracy. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
