<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to an image forming apparatus and occurrence of an image defect by monitoring whether a toner recycling device operates normally. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has a cleaning means (5) which removes residual toner on a latent image carrier, a toner recycling device (6) which conveys the residual toner removed and recovered by the cleaning means to a developing means (3), and a classifier (7) which divides the residual toner recovered by the toner recycling device into suitable toner for development and unsuitable toner for development. In the image forming apparatus, with regard to an amount of toner recovered by the toner recycling device, when an amount of the unsuitable toner that is discarded without being used is larger or smaller than a certain predetermined amount, warning/display is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
