<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk array device performance tuning providing method corresponding to a request for temporary performance improvement from a user of a disk array device. <P>SOLUTION: The disk array device 105 on which a free or very inexpensive standby HDD is mounted in a deactivated state is sold and shipped from a sales department. From a service providing department terminal 102, on the basis of period information received from a user terminal 100, the start and finish of performance tuning service are indicated to a support providing department terminal 103, and the standby disk is activated/deactivated by the support providing department.
