<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for an organic electroluminescent (EL) element less liable to lowering of brightness with time. <P>SOLUTION: In the method, the organic EL element having opposed positive electrode and negative electrode and an organic compound layer with more than one layer sandwiched by the electrodes on a substrate is exposed in an oxygen gas in a plasma state by discharging between the opposed electrodes under atmospheric pressure or pressure close to the atmospheric pressure with existence of oxygen gas, and an oxide film is formed on a surface of the negative electrode by oxidation of the surface of the negative electrode of the organic EL element. Consequently, a long life organic EL element, that is, the organic EL element less liable to lowering of the brightness with time is manufactured. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
