摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To very simply easily detect synchronous codes at high speed by providing one kind of a code pattern for detecting a synchronous position in the synchronous codes and by allowing to detect the synchronous codes by detecting only this pattern. SOLUTION: When recording user information in a five-unit physical sector in a format formed after modulating the user information in accordance with the specified modulation rule on an information storage medium, a plurality of synchronous codes are arranged in the physical sector. Each of the synchronous codes has a common fixed code region 111 and different variable code regions 112, 113 between the synchronous codes. The code 121 for detecting the synchronous position is recorded on the fixed code region 111.
