PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tape reel improved in reliability during high-speed traveling of a magnetic tape by improving the molding quality of a flange section of the tape reel and a tape cartridge provided therewith. SOLUTION: A plurality of reference planes 152v formed between a chucking gear 152b and an outer peripheral rib 152r2 formed on the outer peripheral side of the chucking gear 152b are formed independently from the rib 152r2. The reference planes 152v comprise the respective end surfaces of first ribs 152v1 extending in a circumferential direction and second ribs 152v2 extending in a direction orthogonal with the first ribs 152v1. As a result, the volume of the areas constituting the reference planes 152v is reduced to suppress the occurrence of surface sinks after solidification of resin to improve the molding quality of the flange section 152, and to improve the rectilinearity during the high-speed traveling of the magnetic tape and the reliability of the recording and reproducing operation.
