SOLUTION: The grinding wheel 13 is mounted on a grinding wheel base 8 mounted on a bed 1. The coolant nozzle 16 is mounted on the upper part of a grinding wheel cover 15 in a state of being adjusted in the longitudinal direction, and the gap adjusting mechanism 31 for adjusting the gap G between the outer peripheral face of the grinding wheel 13 and the tip of the coolant nozzle 16 is mounted to the upper face of the grinding wheel cover 15. As an accumulated dressing amount of the grinding wheel 13 can be detected in advance on the basis of the number of times of dressing work, an electric motor 34 is operated prior to the grinding of the work, when the number of times of dressing becomes the predetermined number of times, and the accumulated dressing amount of the grinding wheel 13 reaches a set value to allow the coolant nozzle 16 to approach the grinding wheel 13 by a predetermined amount and to properly adjust the gap G.
