PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter apparatus for water treatment, in which tap water or other water can be neutralized and made weakly alkaline while keeping the pH of the tap water or other water constant. SOLUTION: This filter apparatus is provided with a water treating filter 1 through which water is made to pass. The filter 1 is provided with a housing 11 having a water inlet 19 for introducing water and a water outlet 20 for discharging the treated water, an airtight housing chamber 12 which is formed in the housing 11 and in which a first water treating agent layer 15 is formed, a water merging chamber 13 which is communicated with the outlet 20 and formed in the housing 11, a main current pipe 14 arranged for communicating the inlet 19 with the chamber 13, a means for withdrawing a part of the water discharged to the chamber 13 through the pipe 14 in the middle of the pipe 14 and introducing the withdrawn water into the chamber 12 and a water merging means 17 for communicating the chamber 12 with the chamber 13.
