The hydraulic control device has an electrically-driven oil pump, a pump control, a hydraulic circuit supplying the hydraulic oil pressure to the actuator of a transaxle system of the automobile and a hydraulic circuit control, e.g. for switching between a low hydraulic pressure range and a high hydraulic pressure range. The pump control incorporates a pump revs control, allowing the revs of the oil pump to be matched to the control status of the hydraulic circuit control. An Independent claim for a control method for an automobile hydraulic control device is also included.
