PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver which efficiently acquires a channel map. SOLUTION: The receiver has a broadcast receiver for receiving television broadcast signals and a memory for storing channel map data relating respective broadcast channels with the broadcast types. Referring to the result of an analog search, it searches for digital channels, excluding channels existing for analog broadcasts.
