PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication apparatus which is miniaturized by decreasing the number of operating keys. SOLUTION: The image communication apparatus has: an imaging device 9 for photoelectrically transducing an object image and outputting an image signal; an operation part 22 for controlling operations of the imaging device; a communication part 15 for communicating data containing the image signal picked up by the imaging device to the outside; a detection part 17 for detecting that a call using the communication part is established; a switching part 31 making an exchange number of a party switchable by the operation part when performing a communication while using the communication part; and a display part 20 which displays the image picked up by the imaging device and is switched into state capable of displaying an operation control status of the imaging device by the operation part in response to the detection of establishment of the call by the detection part.
