PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus in which dark noise contained in an output signal of an imaging device is speedily and accurately eliminated when the imaging apparatus has the imaging device capable of reading stored charges for each of a plurality of fields. SOLUTION: When a shutter button is pressed, after the lapse of exposure time Te1, charge signals stored in pixels of a CCD (imaging device) are read. In charge read time Tr1, stored charges in first to third fields are read out in order to acquire exposure data. Next, light shielding photographing is performed while maintaining a closed state of a shutter. After the lapse of light shielding photographing time Te2, stored charges of the pixels are read out after being thinned into 1/9 by the CCD, for example, to acquire data (light shield data) of the dark noise. A dark noise correction value calculated based upon the light shield data is subtracted from the exposure data, so that the dark noise contained in the output signal of the imaging device is speedily and accurately eliminated.
