PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new plasma display panel for obtaining high luminance and high light emitting efficiency. SOLUTION: A surface discharge auxiliary channel type plasma display panel includes a plurality of pairs of display electrodes 12a, 12b disposed in parallel with each other on a front surface substrate 10 to form a discharge gap for performing display luminescence, a dielectric layer 15 with which the electrodes 12a, 12b are covered except at least a part of the discharge gap on the substrate 10, and a data electrode disposed in a direction for stereoscopically intersecting with the paired electrodes 12 on a back surface substrate 20 disposed oppositely to the substrate via a discharge space.
