PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To widen a range of material selection for an adhesive while surely retaining reliability on an envelope in a reinforced structure applying the adhesive between a face plate and a rear plate, and to realizes faster fixing of the face plate to the rear plate, thereby, the production of an image display device with higher definition is realized. SOLUTION: For the airtight container comprising, as component members, a first substrate and a second substrate, which are opposed to each other, and a sealing material arranged in contact with both substrates, by which the inside of an airtight container is airtightly retained, a reinforcing member connecting the first substrate to the second substrate is arranged in relation separated from the contact parts of the sealing material with both substrates.
