PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rice cooker which can prevent a staling smell of cooked rice after being cooked from occurring, and can cook and keep warm the rice without spoiling the taste even when wash-free rice is cooked in a dedicated course. SOLUTION: This rice cooker is equipped with a rice cooking pot 2 which houses an article to be cooked, a heating means 7 which heats the rice cooking pot 2, a temperature sensor 18 for the rice cooking pot, which detects the temperature of the rice cooking pot 2, and a control means 34. In this case, the control means 34 performs respective motions such as a normal white rice cooking, or cooking of wash-free rice by controlling the heating means 7 based on the detected temperature from the temperature sensor for the rice cooking pot. When a wash-free rice course selecting means 32 is operated at the time of rice cooking, and also, timer-set rice cooking selecting means 25 and 26 are operated, the control means 34 makes a timer-set possible time shorter than the case wherein a white rice course selecting means 27 is operated, and also, the timer-set rice cooking selecting means 25 and 26 are operated.
