METHOD FOR EXTRACTING IMAGE TEXTURE AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PURPOSE: A method for extracting an image texture and an apparatus therefor are provided to search images, and to extract texture descriptors for describing texture features of the searched images, thereby intuitively perceiving textures existing in the images. CONSTITUTION: A system applies a modified agglomerative clustering to the first candidate graphs, and selects the second candidate graphs(114). The system classifies the second candidate graphs into 3 types(116). The system classifies the graphs according to the number of graphs filtered by a filter having similar or the same scale/orientation coefficients to or as scale/orientation coefficients of a filter used for filtering the second candidate graphs. The system determines a result as the first indicator configuring a texture descriptor(118). The system determines orientation coefficients and scale coefficients of graphs having the biggest contrast as the second to the fifth indicators(120). The system sets a texture feature vector by using the first indicator, the second to the fifth indicators, and a vector(122).
