<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semitransmissive and reflective type liquid crystal display device in which deterioration in color reproducibility caused by nonuniformity of spectroscopic characteristics of illuminating light beams is suppressed, color developing is good in a reflective mode and a transmissive mode and highly visible display is provided. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel which has pixels 615 that are made of a plurality of subpixels 551 corresponding to different colors and an illuminator. The panel is provided with a semitransmissive and reflective layer and color filters 522 corresponding to the colors of the subpixels 511. The semitransmissive and reflective layer has a light transmissive section that is made transmissive for illuminating light beams. The light transmissive section is formed so that an area of a light transmissive region corresponding to the light transmissive section in at least one subpixel among the plurality of the subpixles 511 and an area of a light transmissive region corresponding to the light transmissive section in other subpixel are made different. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
