PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser element whose light output is high without deteriorating its reliability. SOLUTION: A band gap of a rear side window region is made narrower than that of a front side window region in the semiconductor laser element with a window structure having a window region whose band gap is wider than a light emitting region.
