PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for reproducing optical information capable of accurately reproducing recorded information by correcting the deviation of duty caused by the characteristics or the like of a medium and a recording/reproduction system and the deviation of a reproduction mark length dependent on a recording mark length. SOLUTION: The method is provided with a compensation means for compensating for the phase shift of a reproduced signal caused depending on the direction of magnetization of the recording mark and the phase shift of the reproduced signal caused depending on the length of the recording mark by reproducing the recording mark with an optical head to generate a reproduction signal.
