PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a liquid crystalline polyester in which blisters (foaming) are not formed when molded into a molded article. SOLUTION: [1] The method for producing the liquid crystalline polyester comprises reacting hydroxydicarboxylic acids with diols and acetic acids in a reactor to provide a reaction product containing an acetylated product, transferring the reaction product into a polymerization vessel, charging the acetic acids into the reactor, transferring the acetic acids into the polymerization vessel and polycondensing the reaction product. [2] In the production method described in the item [1], solid layer polymerization is further carried out.
