METHOD AND EQUIPMENT FOR ARC WELDING OF ELEMENT TO COATED COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for arc welding elements like metallic studs to coated metallic plates. SOLUTION: In order to arc weld the elements 16 like the metallic studs in particular to the coated components 18 like the metallic plates in particular, the elements 16 are moved relative to the components 18 and the coatings of the elements 16 are destroyed to create at least partial electrical contacts between the components and the elements in a first stage. The components 18 and the elements 16 are welded to each other in the next stage. The elements are so set as to vibratingly move around at least their longitudinal axis 24 in order to at least partly fracture the coatings of the components 18. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
