SUPERPLASTIC FORMING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superplastic forming method by which desired strength is obtained in desired parts of an region that is superplasically deformed, a waste of material and a waste of weight for obtaining the desired strength entirely are omitted and also high-quality superplastic deformation is enabled. SOLUTION: This superplastic deforming method includes a 1st stage where a tailored blank 30 is formed by arranging a plurality of base stocks 20, 22, 24 of superplastic materials having different thickness like a sheet in an adjacent relation to each other or arranging a plurality of the base stocks of the superplastic materials by overlapping at least a part and joining each other by joining a plurality of the adjacent base stocks made of the superplastic materials by friction/agitation joining and a 2nd stage where a forming die 40 including the surface part 44 of the die having a desired surface shape and dimensions is prepared and the desired surface shape and dimensions of the surface part of the die are transferred to a plurality of the base stocks of the superplastic materials by pressing a plurality of the base stocks of the superplastic materials of the tailored blank against the surface part of the die after deforming them superplastically.
