PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric porcelain composition suitably used in a high frequency region and a method of producing the same. SOLUTION: The dielectric porcelain composition contains a solid solution expressed by a general formula (Y<SB>2-x</SB>R<SB>x</SB>)Ba(Cu<SB>1-y</SB>Co<SB>y</SB>)O<SB>5</SB>(wherein, R is at least one selected from the group of Yb, Tm, Er, Ho, Dy, Gd, Eu, and Sm; 0≤x≤2; and 0<y≤1), exhibits a low dielectric constant, and a good quality factor and a temperature coefficient. Consequently, the dielectric porcelain composition suitably used in a high frequency region can be provided. In particular, in the case that the rare earth element R is Sm, a temperature coefficient of nearly equal to 0 ppm/°C can be realized. In addition, the dielectric porcelain composition can be sintered at a relatively low temperature and simultaneously sintered together with a metal material. Further, a solid solution having a high quality factor can produced by densifying the structure by performing cold isostatic pressing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
